Wow! This is so good! I love how it starts out so intensely focused on Starsky that I figured it was an exceptionally well-edited Starsky Appreciation vid. But then Hutch comes in (to the lyrics “Seeing the beauty”!) and it’s suddenly clear that it’s a vid about how Starsky feels about Hutch. I love that twist! Some of my favorite bits: The porch walk for “the master of my sea”, the Durniak clip for “broken from a young age”, all the clips for “the blood in my veins”, and the beautifully placed clip from Partners to lend context to the rest of the vid. Also, the motion to the music is just exquisite in this vid!
Yay! Thank you for not only getting it, but pointing out what I was going for. This is one video I did not write notes about after finishing. But I remember beginning with a flashing effect and a close-up of Starsky and it almost acted like an xray – then I knew that I had something. And then Carol pointed me to that Partners scene (I don’t watch that one often because of Hutch’s head cast) and I knew that would be the glue that would hold the vid together. It wasn’t about the pain helping Starsky, but Hutch helping him through the pain. So I had to turn the song on its head a bit.
Thank you for your in-depth thoughts!
